Composite and Amalgams
If decay has worn away vital tooth structure, Dr. Elizabeth Spindel and Dr. Victoria Spindel Rubin may recommend replacing the missing tooth structure with a filling. The goal is to remove the decay early to minimize the amount of tooth structure lost and avoid any pain. The filling will most likely be made out of composite (white or tooth colored resin) or amalgam (silver). If a lot of tooth structure is missing or decayed, other procedures like a crown may be more appropriate.
